This is an antique secretaire bookcase dating to the late Georgian period c.1790.
A fine and rare example in very good order
Crafted in choice cuts of mahogany
Good colour and desirable grain interest
Working locks and keys throughout
Raised on turned bun feet
Modest crown moulding with crossbanded frieze
Lower Cabinet:
Twin field panel doors
Brass keyhole linings with working lock and key
Single adjustable shelf within
Locking secretaire drawer dressed with turned pulls
Baized writing surface before 6 cubbies over broad lower cubby
Flanked either side by pairs of stationery drawers with turned pulls over 3 further cubbies
Upper Cabinet:
Twin arched, astragal glazed doors
Classic nine panel glazing layout
Brass keyhole linings with working lock and key
Four adjustable internal shelves
