Antique Oak Filing Cabinet by Yawman & Erbe c.1910
A rare double width antique quarter-sawn oak filing cabinet dating to c.1910. Made by Yawman and Erbe, a leading maker of early filing systems, it has four large drawers with original brass handles, name plates, rods for guides/indexes and moveable wooden compressors for keeping folders upright in the drawers. With attractive panelled sides and on a stand this would look good both at home or in the office and as it is a stacking design more sections could be added if found.
In very good condition and sturdy construction, one brass guide rod is missing but it has fabulous golden/honey colour and tiger pattern to the grain, some marks, wear & fading as should be expected for the age and slight waving to bottom right drawer front.
The overall dimensions at the largest points are approximately
Width - 34 1/8in (84cm)
Depth - 25 1/2in (64.5cm)
Height - 49in (14.5cm)
Internal drawer size - 15 1/8in wide x 22 3/8in deep x 10 7/8in high (38.5cm x 57.5cm x 27.5cm)
Ref: 0525
