This is a solid Oak late 17th Century Coffer, riased on short legs to keep it off the floor it has four panels to the top and front. Each panel has diamnond motifs carved with floral patterning. It retains its original loophinges and has a small simple escutcheon and the lock is still there which looks original. The patination is good as you would expect but there has been a couple of repairs as you would expect from a 350 year old Coffer. There are ogee moulding stop champfered decortaion to the whole coffer.

When this piece was made the South Sea Bubble had not yet collapsed, Bonnie Prince Charlie had not landed in Scotland, Slavery was legal and we had not lost the American Colonies.
