This is an Antique Carved Walnut side table originally retailed by Liberty of London in the Japanism style that was so prevalent in Europe at this point. Please see the book by Daryl Bennett "Liberty Furniture 1875-1915" page 29 on the top right. All things Japanese or Japanism swept through Europe after the American Commodoer Matthew Perry opened trade links after they closed there borders in 1639. All forms of Art and movements could not get enough of this style for a number of decades. We also have to remember that Liberty used to have a number or regional stores that are now closed. There is now retailers mark but clearly a Liberty piece.

This table is raised on shaped legs with floral carved top and lower shelf.
