Antique Japanese carved table for Liberty London

1 of 6
This is a delightful Early 20th Century Japanese carved two tier table in a rare red lacquer finish retailed by Liberty's of London circa 1905. The table tops are carved with a bold design of sunflower heads and leaves. The carving, albeit in lower relief, also extends down each of the legs.
These antique tables were carved by Japanese fishermen to meet the demand in the West for Japanese art and design at the turn of the 20th Century. They were imported flat-packed to Great Britain, assembled and retailed by Liberty & Co in their London store. On the underneath of the upper and lower table tops of this little table is carved the number 157 - these numbers, which are unique to each table, were used to assist in the assembly.
Dimensions:
Width 20 1/2" (52 cm)
Depth 14" (35.5 cm)
Height 28 1/2" (72.5 cm)
Condition: The table is in excellent condition and is beautifully presented having been cleaned and waxed in our workshop. There is just one or two tiny places where the wood is showing through the lacquer.
Delivery: This table can be delivered anywhere on mainland England and most of Wales for £45 by our trusted delivery man.
