This is a very beautiful and charming chinoiserie bureau cabinet on stand which dates from around 1900. The cabinet is wonderfully hand painted and gilded with exotic birds, blossoms and branches. It has a fall front which opens to reveal an arrangement of small compartments, all with their original button knobs and all beautifully hand painted.
The cabinet which has very neat straight lines is supported on its original similarly decorated stand with its elegant outswept cabriole legs. This has some minor rubbing and marks commensurate with age but is generally in good condition with a working lock and key.
The cabinet on stand stands 127 cms high, 74 cms wide and 50 cms deep.
