Antique George IV Mahogany Bookcase
This large antique George IV mahogany bookcase is wonderful quality & in completely original condition, right down to the hand blown glass. George IV antique furniture date from the 1820-30’s period & is quite distinctive in style. It has an inverted breakfront cornice & panels down either side of the two upper doors which are astral-glazed. The inside of the top section is divided into two compartments, with adjustable bookshelves that slide into angled grooved shelf supports. There are two drawers below that with fine dovetails. The bottom section has two cupboards with arched panels surrounded by reeded mouldings & there is one shelf inside. This bookcase has a lovely original colour & everything works well including the locks. It has to be one of the nicest examples I’ve had of this type of thing.
