Antique French Escritoire Mahogany Abattant 19th Century Secretary Desk c.1850

This is an unusual antique French escritoire or 'secretary desk'.

Dating to c.1850 this continental piece has a country charm and finish with practicality for storage and as a work station.

Standing on bracket feet the cabinet features chamfered corner detail with gilt metal embellishment beneath moulded cornice.

The lower cupboard is enclosed by field panel doors in a contrasting mahogany finish.

The locking upper section is revealed by the baize inlaid fall and features numerous pigeon holes and a locking central cupboard with three drawers beneath.

This piece would look fantastic in the home or as a fashionable desk in a period restaurant or boutique hotel.
