Antique Fine Victorian Writing Bureau Large
English Victorian Cylinder Bureau - Superior Fitted Interior - c1870
Presented in excellent antique condition - a top quality English Victorian cylinder bureau with pleasing proportion and a stunning burr walnut fitted interior with a trio of leather skivers.
Rising from twin pedestals with curved continuous plinth the bureau offers three generously sized full length drawers complete with original twin pulls.
The bureau has amazing presence with superior mahogany tone to the piece.
The cylinder top is complete with working lock and key - it opens to provide a slide forward writing surface. Three leathered lift flaps rise to provide document storage with the centre one elevating to an adjusted angle to act as a reading or writing slope (ideal for putting an Ipad on - true Victorian forward thinking!).
This hugely desirable interior delivers robust drawers with light burr walnut to the fronts and original ebonised turned pulls.
It is solidly crafted throughout, has strong dovetails, wonderful craftsmanship and will make a fine addition to any home.
A perfect example of practicality and stunning design with traditional English craftsmanship delivering a piece which will still be desirable in another two centuries time.
