Antique Early Victorian Pine Coffer Trunk
This lovely country coffer looks to date from the first half of the nineteenth century. It is constructed from solid pine with a hinged lid and a plinth base. It retains the remains of its candle box inside - the sides and top are missing and only a small drawer present. The coffer retains its lock and a replacement escutcheon, but please note that no keys are present.
Condition: Overall this is an attractive country piece, but it is quite heavily worn and would benefit from some tlc. There is some scuffing, scratching, knocking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, which is heavy in places, and the piece is overall faded. It would benefit from being polished and waxed. It has some shrinkage splitting, including a large split across the top. There are some signs of old woodworm - this is not active but has been retreated as a precaution. There are some marks, stains and old pen marks. Most of the candle box is missing. No key is present.
The approx measurements are as follows:
50cm high, 106cm wide, 51cm deep (to maximums). Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
