Here we have this magnificent chest on stand. This chest on stand was made by a cabinetmaker who had sourced quite wonderful burr elm veneers (Veneering was always the traditional way of facing items to conserve the precious product, this should not be confused with the modern mass produced way of veneering items)
Each drawer with herring-bone banding and walnut cross-banding around the drawer edges. All fitted the original brass drop handles.
The chest was made in 2 sections, the section comprising of a chest fitted 2 small and 3 long graduated drawers.
The base section consisting of 3 drawers standing on 3 turned legs to the frong and a leg to each corner at the rear all joined by a shaped stretcher and turned feet below.
Imagine this wonderful piece in your home as your friends and family casting their envious eyes on it.
It would look great in a entrance hall, drawing room, bedroom, landing, and many other places in your home as it of a great size.
This would have been made circa 1870 and in the William and Mary style.
