Antique Burl Walnut Dining Table

A rare and superior quality antique figured burr walnut split pedestal 19th century Victorian wind out extending 4,6,8,10,12 seat dining table. This three 3 leaf 10’ adjustable regency large table has all the hallmarks of being better than average quality. The double wind mechanism is stamped by the renowned maker Samuel Hawkins , 54 Bishopsgate Street , London and all the castors and securing clips are dated 1840 and stamped by Cole & Collinson suppliers to only the very best of antique furniture manufacturers. Primarily to Jackson and Graham, Holland & Sons and Schoolbred. We attribute this table to the desirable and collectable Holland & Sons furniture makers. The table uses the very best figured burr walnut veneers onto carcass timbers of Cuban mahogany. Even the sliding bearers are constructed from this dense timber. The top has the rounded corners beneath which is a serpentine shaped pedestal base which splits to support the table at either end
, each on three rolling castors. The canted quadripartite base supports four cabriole shaped legs. The table is totally original and has been restored sympathetically by qualified and professional restorers at a cost of several thousand pounds and is ready to place in the home. This piece of furniture has a matching sideboard which was sourced form the same house and procured by the vendors ancestors at the same time as the table some 170 years ago. Circa 1840. Excellent condition. Measures 120” l x 54”w x 28”h
