Antique Bureau Georgian Writing Desk on Chest
English Georgian Writing Bureau - Oak - c1754
Presented in good antique condition - a quality English oak bureau with pleasing carved central dated cartouche.
Rising from a partially relieved continuous plinth the bureau offers three generously sized full width drawers complete with brass swan-neck batwing backplate handles, below a false upper pair who blank off the desirable internal well.
The fall flap opens to provide an original writing surface and fitted interior. A trio of waterfall drawers flank the central cubbies. In front of the mid section lies a slide back lid which moves rearwards to reveal the under desk storage area.
It is solidly crafted throughout, has strong joints, wonderful provincial craftsmanship and will make a fine addition to any home.
A perfect example of practicality and classic design with traditional English craftsmanship delivering a piece which will still be desirable in another two centuries time.
A classic quality English antique bureau with huge charm, history and warmth.
Delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
