This is a charming 18th century six plank coffer or sword chest dating from around 1790. The solid oak has a lovely colour and good antique patination. The chest is a good early example with hand forged hasp and remarkably the original working lock and key, rarely present in chests of this period. The chest has hand forged hinges in good order and lidded candlebox is intact also to the interior. This solid chest is in good sound order and is a really characterful period piece.
The chest measures 113 cm long 40 cm deep by 52 cm high.
