A Rare 15th Century Gothic Oak Coffer %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
A Rare Gothic Carved Oak Chest.

French circa 1480-1500

Of joined construction ,the three panel top over a twin panel front each carved with leaf and bud quarter sections ,the sides twin panelled with original twisted iron handles.

The lockplate is amazing with decorative detail to the staples and the terminating ends of the S scroll.

The interior has a shelf to the facing left hand side and evidence of a now missing till to the right.

A rare chunky chest with a decorative statement.

Condition is good with all original ironwork ,the back legs have been tipped in places and there are historic patch repairs to the lid , the oak has a country feel to it the colour that has been built up over the years from hard and continual use ,this coffer has been well cherished over the years and the colour and patina are proof of that care.

37.5" (95cm) Wide

20.5" (52cm) Deep

24.5" (63cm) High
