A Mahogany Regulator Longcase Clock c.1860
A fine quality flame mahogany 8 Day floorstanding, observatory dial layout, regulator longcase clock c.1860.
The high quality and substantial case veneered in beautifully figured flame mahogany. The arched top jewellers shop style case with glazed and moulded trunk door, having fine quality carved work beneath the dial. The richly figured box base with recessed moulded panel, canted corners, mounted on a plinth skirt and pad feet,
The circular engraved silvered brass dial with outer minute track and subsidiary dials for the hours and seconds, Observatory dial layout, surrounded by a cast brass sighting ring.
Signed to the centre for the jewellers shop Manning & Sons Penarth, most probably a London manufactured antique clock based on the overall quality.
The substantial fully restored movement of eight day duration, with thick shaped plates united by four large turned pillars. Fine 6 spoke wheelwork and high count pinions throughout, Harrison’s maintaining power, jewelled deadbeat escapement, with beat setting adjustment to the backboard pendulum mount, polished brass cylindrical weight with ornate fretted and spoked pulley.
The polished brass and steel frame pendulum with mercury filled glass jar compensation, finely turned and knurled decorative brass nuts with engraved and calibrated rating nut with blued steel pointers.
Silvered and engraved beat scale.
Blued steel hands.
Overall a very fine and original clock of excellent colour and pantination.
