C1870 A German single edge gladius side arm. 22 inch blade marked Solingen with makers mark verso. Blade firn in hilt. The blade has minor pitting, a couple of small notches and staining in line with its age and military use.
A one piece brass hilt in good age worn condition with stamped ordinance marks. Great display sword.
The sword was obtained from the estate of a Danish family who emigrated to England before the Second World War so unsure to which continental force it was used in.
