A Porcelain Celadon Table Lamp with fine Pate Sur Pate decoration, to the front a lady with flowing dress holding a Lamp whilst walking bare footed across grass the the reverse floral & scroll decoration on Gilt Bronze base with Pleated Shade.
Re-wired and Pat Tested.
67cm to the top of the shade.
40cm shade width.
Pate-sur-pate (pâte-sur-pâte) is also known as paste-on-paste. It is a cameo-like motif achieved by adding layers of white Parian slip to create a mound on an unfired, unglazed, tinted Parian base and then carving a relief design into the mound of white slip. When fired, the white Parian layers become semi-translucent and vitrified. The tinted Parian shows through the thinner layers.
