A nice 'round-dial' longcase clock by Thomas Shakespeare of Burton on Trent. c1825.
Good quality 8-day movement (winding once a week).
Quite an simple and understanded case with good colour and very nice details.
All professionally and expensively restored and ready for its new home
Thomas Shakespeare worked from the High St. in Burton-on-Trent c1818 to 1835. He was apprenticed in November 1792 to William Noon of Ashby-de-la -Zouch in Leicestershire for seven years and the fee of £12.00. Sometimes his name is spelt without the final 'e'.
By 1846 he has moved as he appears at Swadlingcote, Derbyshire.
8 day movement, with shaped shoulders, striking the hours on a bell.
Oak case with mahogany trims and cross banding. Extensive and tasteful use of satinwood details. Original polished brass hands.
13" dial, Original wavy glass to hood.
Dims 218 cm tall. +8cm finial
Fully & professionally restored ready for sale. Movement professionally overhauled. Dial repainted. Case only required a light restoration. Original components (not a marriage of different clocks).
