1st Period Worcester Large Leaf Shaped Dish c1770 %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
We have for sale a truly stunning large 1st period Worcester porcelain leaf shaped dish dating to around 1770.

This very finely moulded leaf shaped dish is modelled as two overlapping leaves and would have been manufactured in Worcester and then sent to the studion of James Giles in Soho, London, where it was sumptuously decorated with vibrant beautifully painted polychrome flowers on a white ground. The base of the dish is unmarked, but a smaller dish of the same design is illustrated on page 187 of "Worcester Porcelain: 1751-1790 - the Zorensky Collection" by Simon Spiro and John Sandon 1999.

The dish is 14 inches (35.6cm) wide, 10 inches (25.4cm) deep and stands 1.5 inches high. The dish is in an excellent antique condition, although there is a small and rather ancient inconsequential chip to the outside of the foot rim, see photograph 6.
