Classic late 19th.c. military officer’s campaign chest c.1880. In solid camphorwood, a fragrant and pest resistant timber which helped protect contents during passage, further strengthened with brass corners and bindings. Fitted with a small lidded compartment to the inside. Flush fitting handle to the lid and diamond shaped escutcheon, heavy duty carry handles to each side. Great character with some obvious wear and an old split to left hand side of the top. Otherwise very good condition, solid and sturdy. Excellent colour, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
