An imposing 18th century Mahogany Longcase Clock by Daniel Brown,Glasgow,Having 13" arched Brass Dial with original Spandrels,the Arch having Cartouche engraved "Dan Brown'Glasgow.It has an eight day Striking Movement on a Bell.The case is made from solid Mahogany throughout, the trunk has a long door, the square Hood has Green Silk Lined Frets to Corners and to side of Hood.The Movement has been cleaned and fully restored, also the Brass Dial has been cleaned and Chapter Ring and Centre Dial has been re Silvered.,All necessary repairs done to Case which is still in its original finish.Daniel Brown is recorded as making circa 1785 (See Loomes Watchmaker & Clockmakers of the World) It stands overall 83" High.
I am listed as a Private Dealer but some of my Stock can be viewed at The Antiques Emporium,Lewes,E.Sussex and also The Arcade, The Corn Exchange,The Pantiles, Tunbridge Wells..If you wish, I am am able meet you there to discuss any items and also bring along any items which are on Antiques Atlas but not displayed in either Shop.
