18th Century Ash And Elm Country Gothic Bench %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
A Late 18th Century Ash And Elm Long Bench which II like to call Country Gothic

This bench II presume originates from a chapel but was recently removed from Blacks Clum in Dean Street Soho London.

“The Club” was first formed in 1764 when Samuel Johnson, David Garrick and Joshua Reynolds formed a supper club where they would meet and discuss the issues of the day with fine food and wine.

The end supports are Ash on sledge feet with a subtle gothic arch and the seat is the most wonderful Burr Elm with swirls and spots with a simple center support tennoned into the seat.

7ft Long

26.5" Deep at sledge feet

18" High to seat

35" High to back.

There are two old repairs to the end supports and signs of old worm to the feet.

To me it has a great colour and a primitive gothic feel to it.
