This totally gorgeous mid-century enamel Stratton 'Musica' / musical powder box. The lid is adorned with cobalt blue enamel which is decorated with white and pale blue floral motifs which have gilt accents and foliage. There isn't any loss of enamel or design. A top of the range luxury musical powder compact with the original puff and sifter in excellent condition. This vanity was coated at the point of manufacture which means that it will not tarnish or ever need to be cleaned. The puff is very pretty. The puff top is immaculate pink silk with the 'Compact-in-Hand' logo in gilt. It is signed 'Stratton MADE IN ENGLAND' in gilt lettering. The underside of the puff is pristine pale pink velour. The velour edged sifter is also unused and perfect. This music box has not been used with any face powder. The 'Musica' plays the song perfectly. Wind the key clockwise & the tune plays for over one minute. The beautiful lid lifts to reveal an excellent bevelled mirror which gives a very clear reflection. The inner lid is signed " Stratton " & has the " Compact-in-Hand " logo & an attractive pattern made up of horizontal lines. The patented self-opening inner lid works perfectly every time. The winder key is signed " REUGE STE. CROIX PATENT and "SWISS MADE." The base is very beautiful & shows the "curled feathers" design, which was used to decorate only the most luxurious Stratton accessories. This is an uncommon Stratton vanity & sought-after. It is delightful and to hear the quirky little tune play is relaxing & transports you back to the 1950s! Image five shows a dull over head shot as the enamel is highly reflective. Measures: 3 1/4 " X 2 3/4" & weighs 168.5 grams.
