Rare Stratton Powder Compact Late 1940s
An extremely rare Stratton powder compact which is decorated with an exquisitely detailed pictorial inlay of a courting couple in Georgian attire.
This Stratton brand model is known as the Scone without Inner Lid.
Some examples of this model have lid decorations which have the appearance of an oil painting. This is one such vanity. The charming depiction makes this item highly collectible.
The compact opens to reveal a gilded powder well and a good mirror. The mirror bezel is signed STRATTON MADE IN ENGLAND. The hinge and catch work perfectly. The base is decorated with a fine spiral. This delightful vintage compact is presented with original Stratton brand accessories. As the original sifter is present this vanity can be used with loose foundation, although it is more of a cherished collectible than a makeup compact due to its rarity and beauty. Measures 3 inches diameter. Weighs 67 grams.
