Victorian Wesleyan Methodist Sunday School Set
This unusual china set has 'Wesleyan Methodist Sunday School Tysoe' transfer-printed on to each piece. The plate is marked for Doulton Burslem on the bottom, and the saucer is marked for John Maddock & Sons, but the other pieces have no maker's marks. We would estimate the pieces to date from the late nineteenth century. Present is a cup and saucer, a bowl and a plate.
Condition: Overall in fair to good condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. There are some manufacturing flaws and some flaws in the glaze as might be expected, and all the pieces are crazed and have some wear to the gilt rims and transfer-printing. The bowl has some hairline cracking. The plate is more heavily crazed and is also a little discoloured.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Cup - 7cm high, 8cm diameter of top
Bowl - 8cm high, 14cm diameter of top
Plate - 19.5cm diameter. Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
