Very Rare 19th C. Welsh Primitive Graduated Measures
A very rare graduated set of antique earthenware kitchen pans or measures.
These are Welsh in origin, utilising the local red clay and were hand fashioned on a potter's kick wheel before being wood fired. Each interior is covered with a warm amber coloured glaze.
Date: c.1850 onwards.
These items have a lovely, primitive charm all of their own.
The largest bowl has a pair of lug handles at the rim. These indicate that it was intended to be the largest of the set....and so we know no other larger pans exist for this grouping. This bowl measures just 11.5 cms diameter with the other pieces dropping down in size, as shown. The smallest measure is just 1cm in height.
Occasionally found split up as singles and very, very rarely seen together like this. An absolute must for the antique British pottery or kitchenalia collector. Highly recommended.
In good condition for age. Please call or email for a full condition report. Email or call for any further information on this item. We give great attention to each and every item we select and offer for sale, priding ourselves on the accuracy of our descriptions and research. We are very happy to provide complete and exacting condition reports (together with further photographs, where necessary) and encourage buyers to request this information prior to purchase.
Accepted payment methods are via paypal, bank transfer, personal cheque or cash.
Viewing of any item in person, prior to purchase, is always welcomed by appointment.
