Stunning Minton Porcelain Cup & Saucer "Q" 6619

A gorgeous bone china teacup and saucer by Minton in their "Q" shape with moulded acanthus leaves around the shaped rims and decorated with a fabulous bright apple green enamel ground. Shaped reserves framed with stylised acanthus leaves in a salmon enamel with gilt detailing. The centre of each is painted with sprays of garden flowers in bright pastel enamels. Ornate gilt decoration smothers the green ground with training vines, dotted triangles, striped and dotted, and diaper pattern panels and scrolls and arabesques. The outside of the cup has a stylised gilt border, acanthus leaf detail and edging to the handle and both pieces finished with gilt dentil rims. Pattern number 6619 painted in red over a small factory mark, possibly a decorator's mark. c.1840.
Reference: A Compendium Of British Cups, plate 1054.
The cup measures 5.2cm (2 1/16") high to the rim and 10.4cm (4 1/16") rim to rim. The saucer measures 14.3cm (5 5/8") wide.
