Shelley Coffee Set Deco Porcelain
The porcelain made by Shelley between 1860 and 1950 was the finest in the world. The company’s manufacturing methods and quality control processes ensured that every piece was perfect and some of their designs are now treasured works of art. During the early 1930s Eric Slater, the art director of Shelley and a talented designer, created three coffee set shapes including ‘Eve’ with its distinctive triangular art deco styling. This nine-piece service is in mint condition having been in storage since it was purchased in 1935 – the label is still attached to the coffeepot. Each piece is hand decorated and painted in the delicate yellows and deep oranges of the Loganberry design and all carry the Shelley maker’s mark (for 1925-1945), the registered design number (756533), the pattern number (12434) and matching paintress’ marks (11•). This 1930s museum quality art deco coffee set would make an excellent addition to any Shelley collection. Item No. 0066.
