Set 6 Salins French Majolica Asparagus Plates
Set of 6 19th century French majolica asparagus plates from the Salins-Les-Bains region, c.1875. Blue scalloped edges outside a yellow basketweave moulded band frame the plates. In the centre against a turquoise ground are moulded asparagus stems lying on a leaf. Each has a dipped well to the side for butter or sauce. Painted model number 75 to the reverse and referenced in Artichauts et Asperges en Barbotine by Maryse Bottero, page 72.
They measure 24cm / 9 1/2" wide and 3cm / 1 1/4" deep. Condition is very good overall. One has a short stable hairline to the edge and a chip to the footrim and one other has a hairline just across the footrim. This plate also has 2 small pieces of excess clay to the front. The faults are shown in the later photos. Otherwise, the surfaces of the plates are finely crazed as is usual and there is some discolouration in places. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
Price includes UK shipping. Worldwide shipping is also available, please ask for a cost.
We wish to ensure all our customers are happy with their purchases and offer a full no quibble return policy for all items returned within 14 days. We ask that returns are notified within 7 days where possible. Return postage is the buyer's responsibility in terms of cost and safeguarding the item through transit.
