This powder compact is suitable for modern loose face powders.
Hard to find? Yes! This is the model that has gold, orange and green enamel flowers and foliage.
One of the most adorable compacts made in the heyday of American novelty compact by the Zell who were known to produce high quality & novel compacts which are highly collectible. As you will see from image one this compact is so well made it stands up by itself. A high quality item with engine stamped floral motifs in a flower basket. Even the silver tone rivets on each side form the part of the flowers. It has a rigid plaited carry handle. The first two images show the lid & the fourth the base. Both the lid & base have exactly the same attention to detail. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The mirror is very good & gives an excellent reflection. The original signed puff and sifter are in place and so this compact could be used with loose face powder. Both the puff and sifter are in excellent condition. The puff still has the Zell signature undamaged in gilt letters. The whole piece has the most glorious golden patina & will never need to be cleaned. The compact is in good condition.
This wonderful 1940s novelty compact measures 8.5 cm tall & 7.2 cm wide & weighs 83.4 grams.
