This is an unusual and amusing pair of Famille Rose porcelain dancing boys by Samson of Paris from the late 19th century. The figures are a fun design with separate nodding heads. The boys are dressed in traditional Chinese costume which is hand painted in famille rose enamels and have lily leaves as hats. The boys are in really good condition save for the right hand boy who has a small restored area to the back neck, but this is quite sound and can hardly be seen (see photo 7) . These stand 22 cms high. A rare pair of good quality figures in hard paste porcelain, dating from around 1890.
