A beautiful little compact c. 1948 with the original puff, powder plate and wrist chain in excellent condition. The lid is adorned with mother of pearl with a large diamante set atop, this is surrounded by a further eight faceted diamante - none missing. In person the diamante gleam much more than the images. The wrist chain measures 9 cm and so will fit most wrists. This brand has lots of documented history and so we will provide a large historical fact pack, authenticating this vanity. The compact is signed " Harriet Hubbard Ayres NEW YORK " in elegant script. Below the hinge the compact is stamped " 1599571 ". All clasps and hinges work perfectly. The internal case is just as adorable as the exterior - a tiny mirror gives an excellent reflection. The mirror is framed by a gilded bezel. The original powder plate and puff giving a hint of the delicious aroma. The puff is enchanting and still has the original printing.......... GOLDEN CHANCE " the all-day scent with evening witchery". The gilded base has an impressed " guilloche " design.
The compact measures almost 3" diameter. The wrist chain measures 18.5 cm (& so it will fit on most ladies wrists) and weighs 19.1 grams
