Rare BURMANTOFTS Dragon Dish c.1889
A Rare BURMANTOFTS/LEEDS FIRECLAY CO. LTD Dish with recumbent Dragon, in Burmantoft's iconic mustard yellow faience glaze and dating to c.1889.
Burmantofts and several other local 'Leeds' potteries combined from 1889 to form Leeds Fireclay Co Ltd. This is most likely an advertising piece. Examples do turn up very occasionally but are becoming increasingly rare.
Marked on top with 'LEEDS FIRECLAY COY LTD' and on the base with 'BURMANTOFTS FAIENCE ENGLAND' and the letter 'T'.
In very good antique condition with no chips or cracks, just the usual age-related crazing to the glaze.
Size ~ 128mm x 110mm. Satisfaction Guarantee & Returns Policy.
Returns are accepted within 7 days. A full refund will be given provided the item is received in the same condition as when sold. Buyer is responsible for return postage/shipping costs, appropriate packaging and insurance.
