Rare BURMANTOFTS Ceramic Veritas Oil Stove c.1890
A superb and increasingly rare example of a Burmantofts Veritas Oil Stove surround dating to c. 1890.
Intricate pierced Moorish design with a stunning green Burmantofts Faience glaze.
BURMANTOFTS produced their highly collectable range of Faience Art Pottery between 1882 and 1904. The contemporary stove company 'Veritas' commissioned a range of these intricate and decorative stove covers with a Moorish theme from Burmantofts. Many were used to heat late Victorian public buildings and hospital wards.
2 piece construction with removable lid and carrying handles.
An extremely decorative collector's item which would display beautifully with flowers or a plant in the stove well.
Extremely rare to find an example is such fantastic condition with no apparent damage. Some minor 'milky' discolouration to the lid perhaps as a result of heat. Minor, and mentioned only for completeness.
Height ~ 700mm. Base ~ 300 x 300mm.
Collection or delivery by arrangement for fuel cost preferred. (Not keen to ship due to fragile nature but buyer can also arrange for their courier to collect). Satisfaction Guarantee & Returns Policy.
Returns are accepted within 7 days. A full refund will be given provided the item is received in the same condition as when sold. Buyer is responsible for return postage/shipping costs, appropriate packaging and insurance.
