Exceptional late 19th.c. Japanese tea set c.1890. Six cups and saucers plus teapot, milk jug and sugar bowl each with a lid. With an extraordinary level of hand painted, gilded and applied decoration. Scenes of figures (some with gilded halos) in conversation whilst scaly, serpentine dragons writhe around them. With a hand painted mark to the underside of each piece. If anyone can offer a translation we would be delighted to know more.
