A very pretty and ornate late 19th century bureau de dame. Very well constructed in solid rosewood and with attractive rosewood veneers onto a mahogany carcas. Embellished with inlaid stringing and floral detailing in boxwood, satinwood and ivorine throughout. The superstructure with a pair of short drawers and a galleried up-stand inset with 3 oval mirrors, each containing their original beveled glass plates (some minor foxing). The bureau fall front (lockable, key supplied) opens to reveal a fitted interior complete with a sumptuous black leather writing surface. The bureau is flanked by a pair of lift-up flaps and sits over a single drawer. All standing on elegant tapering legs, united by an under-tier and terminating in original brass and ceramic castors. This lovely desk has been sympathetically refinished in our workshops and is now offered for sale in excellent condition, ready to go straight into the home.
