A stunning art deco sandwich set signed by Edna Best and produced by Pearl Pottery for Lawleys. One tiny professional repair to a 1cm hairline to the corner of the left side fin. In excellent condition with no chips, cracks, paint loss or crazing. The large tray is 32cm x 14cm and the plates are 13.75 x 13.75cm

In the 1930's, Lawleys of London decided to issue their own range of pottery wares to compete with the popular Clarice Cliff. To add importance to the range (which was produced by Pearl Pottery Burslem) they reached an agreement with Hollywood stage and screen star Edna Best to include her signature on the base of each piece. Examples (particularly the geometric designs) are now much sought after.
