Doulton Lambeth Art Nouveau Vase by Eliza Simmance
This is a beautiful Art Nouveau Doulton Lambeth vase by Eliza Simmance dating to the 1890s. It is in a long necked baluster form with a caramel coloured ground decorated with blue and white flowers and green foliage. It stands approximately 27.5cm / 11" high.
Eliza Simmance was one of Doulton's most accomplished and longest serving artists, working at the Lambeth factory from 1873 to 1928, a period of 55 years. She was at the forefront of Doulton's change in style from Victorian Gothic to flowing, organic Art Nouveau in the late 19th and early 20th century and then to the more geometric Art Deco styles in the 1920s. Her work for Doulton is among the most sought after by collectors and this is a fine example of her artistry from the Art Nouveau period.
The vase is in very good condition with only a couple of truly tiny nibbles on two of the flower petals, which in no way detract from the beauty of the vase. Please make sure to view all the photos.
The marks on the bottom of the vase include the Doulton Lambeth stamp with England underneath, which dates it to after 1891, Eliza Simmance's ES monogram, and the "a" number 6983 which dates the design to 1893.
Shipping in the UK is £16 for Royal Mail Special Delivery Parcel Post and includes insurance for the value of the vase. Rest assured it will be carefully and securely packaged.
Overseas customers please enquire about shipping costs before making a purchase.
