Collection 11 Livesley Powell & Co Ironstone Jugs
A collection of eleven mid 19th century Ironstone china jugs by the Staffordshire company Livesley Powell.
Founded in 1851 as Livesley, Powell & Co. In 1860 Mr. Livesley left the business which was renamed Powell & Bishop in 1867.
The jugs come in three sizes and there are , 6 large, 2 medium and 3 small. Most of the jugs are marked with an impressed mark underneath, varying is clarity.
The jugs are decorated with copper lustre and a transfer panel of flowers to two sides.
The jugs are complete and in the following condition.
Large, 1 jug with a star craze in the base and a firing mark to the rim, 1 jug with a nick to the rim.
Medium, both have firing marks to the rims.
Small, 1 with a crack by the spout and firing marks to the rims of the other two.
(Circa 1850-60)
Large: Height 18.5cm (7.4 inches) Width 17.5cm (6.9 inches) Depth 12cm (4.7 inches)
Medium: Height 16.5cm (6.5 inches) Width 15cm (5.9 inches) Depth 10.5cm (4.2 inches).
Small: Height 13.5cm (5.3 inches) Width 13cm (5.1 inches) Depth 9cm (3.5 inches).
