Caughley Porcelain Fluted Tea Bowl & Saucer
A pretty Caughley porcelain tea bowl and saucer, c.1785-1790, with "Dresden flowers" decoration in underglaze blue with the addition of gilding (likely having been outsourced to the Chamberlain factory for the gilding). The centre of each piece has a daisy type flower and the border around the rim has blue circles with gold curve inside each one and gold decoration between each one. The border is framed with a sandwiched wavy band of blue between gold. Both pieces have the blue S mark to the base.
The tea bowl measures 5cm (2") high and 8.5cm (3 3/8") wide. The saucer measures 3cm (1 1/8") high and 14cm (5 1/2") wide. Condition is good: there is a small chip to the inside of the foot rim of the tea bowl and a glaze level only hairline under the saucer (this does not come through the body). Surface wear is light to the tea bowl and bit more to the centre of the saucer, both have a bit of rubbing to the gilding on the rims. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
Price includes UK shipping. Worldwide shipping is also available, please ask for a cost.
We wish to ensure all our customers are happy with their purchases and offer a full no quibble return policy for all items returned within 14 days. We ask that returns are notified within 7 days where possible. Return postage is the buyer's responsibility in terms of cost and safeguarding the item through transit.
