Good example of the classic camphorwood campaign chest c.1900. Solid camphorwood boards, a fragrant and pest resistant timber designed to protect the contents during passage, further protected with brass bindings and corners. Fitted inside with a small lidded box and an open shelf which disguises a cleverly hidden secret compartment for small items of particular value. Original flush fitting handles to the lid, lock plates and locks. Original heavy brass carry handles to the sides. With a Hong Kong maker’s stamp to the inside. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops.
