This is a beautiful Japanese Satsuma bowl of a good size, dating from the Meiji era, c.1890. The bowl has a lobed rim enclosing a landscape very finely hand-painted painted with pheasants, foliage and blooms in typical Satsuma colour palette with gilding. The decoration to the outside is just as pretty. The bowl has 2 small very faint hairline cracks to the rim on opposite sides of the bowl. These are very small and faint but are just visible in photograph 4. The bowl is otherwise in great condition. It measures 25cm in diameter.
