Here is an example of a superb quality and very rare antique colonial military campaign rosewood two part chest of drawers (circa 1860). The chest features excellent quality throughout. The original shaped brass inset handles, brass corner brackets and brass diamond escutcheons are in perfect condition. The chest features sturdy brass carrying handles attached to the sides. The brass corner brackets were used to protect the chest whilst in transit during campaigns. The chest is constructed of rosewood and coromandel wood and the hand dove tailed drawers are constructed of solid teak with working locks and two keys. The section between both chests is also polished – a sign of good quality. The chest features fielded back panels – a sign of superb quality. The bun feet have been firmly attached however they originally would have been detachable. Overall, this item has a fantastic rich mahogany patination and would grace any home.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the conservatory, hall way, bedroom or the living room. This campaign chest of drawers would certainly grace any home. So don't miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.
Provenance
This campaign chest would have been commissioned for a member of the British Raj or a high ranking officer in the British Army during the reign of Queen Victoria in colonial India (Calcutta) during the mid 19th Century.

Condition Report
This chest is completely original and is in superb original condition commensurate with its age. The top and bottom are original (and not a match). The brass carrying handles, brass inset drawers handles, brass studs, locks and key are all original. The drawer linings and fielded panel back are also all original. There are very old ink stains in the top two drawers. The chest is solid in joint without any damage. Free of wood worm.

A 7 day “no quibble” return policy (from the date you receive the item) is available if you are not happy with this item. You will be given a refund excluding the delivery cost as long as the item is returned in the same condition. The buyer is not required to cover the cost of returning the item if the item is returned at the point of delivery. If the item is delivered and left with the customer, a return fee will apply (which is the same cost as the delivery fee). We only will collect returns using our own specialist furniture delivery company. We will not accept returns via a courier service (due to experience of damaged items in transit). This refund policy only applies to deliveries to the UK.
