This must have been used in a large house for a very long time. Perhaps 150 years of herb chopping didn't stop a week to soon, the bottom would have started out about 2" thick and has been chopped to now only a quarter of an inch or so thick. Much longer and the kitchen table would have been in trouble! Acquired from the Annie Marchant private collection.
