A Pair of Staffordshire greyhounds c1880.
A very attractive pair of greyhounds holding hares in their mouths. They were made in the Staffordshire potteries in the latter part of the 19th century. They would typically be seen on the mantlepiece or in the hearth of a Victorian house and when made would have been quite expensive.
I remember a pair in my great aunts house in Broadstairs, sat on the mantlepiece, and in her day she had a maids to to fetch and carry for her, as work was not her thing.
This pair are in very good condition. I can only find one stress crack to the front leg on one dog, but this does not affect the stability or look of it.
They stand 7.5 inches or 19 centimeters to the top,of their heads.
UK tracked post and packaging costs £15.00.
