A c.1810 (prob. Enoch Wood) Staffordshire figure
Description
A classic Staffordshire mythologically themed figure the goddess Diana (the Roman goddess of the hunt) – modelled in the course of withdrawing an arrow from her quiver. A lovely large pearlware figure of Diana decorated in coloured enamels of turquoise, yellow, ochre, red, orange, blue and black. She stands on a rocky mound, set on a square socle base with red enamel band. Painted "27" mark to the base.
She measures 12" high m.
Condition is excellent: there are some little nicks to the lower part of her bow . There are minor losses to the enamel here and there and some little firing flaws. There does not appear to be any obvious restoration. Overall, the piece is in astonishingly good condition for its age.
This is not a flatback – it is decorated in its entirety (see the photographs).
There is the usual vent to the base.
Payment is accepted by bank transfer, Paypal and UK personal cheque.
