1860-80's Chinoiserie Oriental 3 Piece Trio Set
#AD219: 1880's Antique Victorian Chinoiserie Porcelain
This is a beautiful trio of 3 oriental themed pieces in excellent clean condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.
This unmarked Victorian era set was found with a years old personal handwritten sticker on reverse that stated it was a George Jones & Son pattern, although we do not know the pattern name, do you? After 1891, English wares were to be marked with the country of export. This leads us to the general 1870-80's era in our identification here, as the Jones factory produced porcelain after 1872.
The pattern has tiny oriental grapes and a grapevine transferware motif, with broad swatches of beautiful hand painted color red and blue swatches and gold gilding. See our close up shots, including a peek into the tiny grapes on teapot bottom. It is similar in nature to the Jones Lilium pattern, with browns, greens, fuschia, blues, and leaves & stems.
It was found in Totnes, Devon, England. It consists of a teacup, saucer and cake plate, all in fine porcelain. It has no markings other than a 6930 tally mark handwritten on reverse by potter or artist. The price is for all 3.
Size: Teacup 3 inches, Saucer 5.5 inches, Cake plate 7.25 inches, all in diameter
