We are offering for sale this well executed half length pastel portrait of a WWI Army Officer Lieutenant Bryan Barton Cubitt ( born 1892-died 26th Sept 1915 in France.

The artist has signed the pastel in the lower right hand corner with the sitters surname preceded by the letter " L " denoting his rank as Lieutenant.

Records confirm Bryan Barton Cubitt was born in Witton, Norfolk, United Kingdom in 1892 to Helen Elizabeth and Bernard Cubitt.

The Portraits backing board bears an old label of a framer, gilder and restorer by the name of Dimmock & Son, of 66 London Street, Norwich.

The eight pointed star on the officers cap badge confirms he is in the East Yorkshire Regiment.

ABOUT THE REGIMENT
The East Yorkshire Regiment was a line infantry regiment of the British Army first formed in 1685 as Sir William Clifton's Regiment of Foot. It was amalgamated with the West Yorkshire Regiment in 1958 and with the Green Howards and The Duke of Wellington's Regiment to form The Yorkshire Regiment in 2006.

The portrait has been newly framed in a 3 1/2" gilt frame, which complements the colouring very well. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.

Returns are accepted within 14 days of receipt if the item is found to have been misdescribed and the purchaser may be liable for the return costs subject to reasons for return.

Returns authorisation should be requested by sending an e-mail before posting.

Once we receive the item in good order as supplied not withstanding notified transit damage, we will return payment using the same payment method.
