William IV walnut davenport writing table desk
Antique quality William IV or early Victorian walnut davenport writing table desk.
This is a lovely quality davenport, that is full of age, charm and character.
Fantastic styling with twist columns and attractive ormolu gallery.
The desk compartment is lined with beautiful birds eye maple veneer.
Period brass castors (some wear).
4 active drawers (mahogany lined and slide freely) and an extension wing on the RHS. 4 dummy drawers on the LHS.
Concealed pen drawer, released by the bottom centre left internal trinket drawer knob.
Later writing surface with some wear and patina.
Although we belive this davenport is made of walnut, certain parts could conceivably be mahogany....sometimes it is very difficult to tell.
No significant woodworm.
Lovely patina and colour, would look amazing in the right location!
Overall maximum dimensions 61cmW x 61cmD x 83cmH x 61cmH knee hole.
Historic knocks, marks, cracks, scratches, wear, imperfections, repairs and alterations, as is always the way and to be expected with genuine antique furniture. No keys and locks are consequently untested. Signs of restoration as one might expect and there is no letter writing compartment. Some stains and marks inside the drawers (to be expected).
